Hypothesis ran rampant -- would Google get into the hardware business? Would the company depend on established mobile phone manufacturers for hardware? Would Google simply focus on constructing smartphone purposes for different gadgets just like the iPhone? Google executives claimed that the corporate wasn't desirous about building hardware. However some Internet journalists and bloggers remained unconvinced. By early 2008, it turned clear that the Google executives had been simple all along -- Google wasn't stepping into the handset hardware recreation. However they have been stepping into the handset software enterprise with a mobile operating system (OS) referred to as Android. Additionally, no single service provider would have unique rights to make use of the Android platform. In that respect, Android joins different cellular gadget operating programs like Symbian and Home windows Mobile. The first Google cellphone was the G1, a handset manufactured by an organization based mostly in Taiwan referred to as the High Tech Computer Corporation (HTC).

The primary service supplier to assist Android within the United States was T-Cellular. As the OS debuted within the United States, other handset manufacturers introduced plans to develop their very own Android telephones. In January 2010, Google unveiled the Nexus One. Clients could select to buy the cellphone for $179 if they signed up with T-Mobile for a two-yr contract or $529 for an unsubsidized phone with no contract. An necessary factor that sets Android other than most different mobile working methods is that it's based on an open source platform. Meaning Google permits anyone to have a look at and modify most of Android's supply code. Ideally, this might mean that if a developer felt Android needed a specific characteristic or capability, she or he may construct it and incorporate it into the OS. The software would continually evolve.

Initially, the Android platform did not help many of the options of other smartphone operating systems. For instance, Android supplied no Microsoft Trade assist upon launch. Many companies use Microsoft Trade as a platform for e-mail and scheduling applications. But because of the open source nature of Android and Google's support for third-party developers, it did not take long before an organization provided an utility that may sync Alternate features with the cellphone. The Android platform might need to play catch up with the other operating methods on the market, however it may have the flexibility to go even farther.
